Choosing the perfect campsite location is everything, and our eco-friendly tent camp on Rocky Point is undeniably THE BEST spot! Baja Discovery guests alone, have the privilege of camping at the point of land where the permitted whale watching area begins. All other lagoon visitors have boat rides of 10-45 minutes just to get to this area.
We are the ONLY campsite where you can watch gray whales from shore all day long!

Baja Discovery is a family run, woman-owned/operated business that was founded in 1990 by my beloved aunt, Karen Ivey. I was just 23 years old when I moved to San Diego to “help for a little while”… I turn 51 this summer. This will be my 28th year of bringing people to see the magical gray whales of San Ignacio Lagoon, and the 13th season on my own since Aunt Karen passed away. I’ve been told often that what we do brings people JOY…that’s pretty profound when you think about it.
It certainly brings me joy too, and it is my great pleasure to continue providing this experience for all those who come along on this special adventure.
